Laurent Durupt studied piano, chamber music, analysis, counterpoint, improvisation and composition ant the CNSM Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris. He was awarded several prizes in piano competitions (Pordenone, Grosseto), chamber music competitions (Krakovia, Paris), and composition prizes (Tensio Young Composer Award).
His principal teacher were Hugues Leclere, Pascal Devoyon, Bruno Rigutto, Nicholas Angelich, and Henri Barda for piano and Frédéric Durieux, Luis Naon, Allain Gaussin, and Philippe Leroux for composition. He was a resident in the Royaumont Academy “Voix Nouvelles” in 2010 where he worked with Brian Ferneyhough, Lisa Lim, and F. Filidei.
As a pianist, he founded with his brother percussionist the Links duo and with several artists the Links Ensemble. They are actors in the emerging European scene for new music, and have performed the premieres of works by Bedrossian, Hurel, and Ricks. As a soloist, he has been invited to several festivals including Nancyphones, Amsterdam Opera, and the Salzburger Schlosskonzerte.
In 2011 he joined IRCAM as a student in the Cursus program. He was awarded scholarships from the Fondation de France and the Fondation Meyer. Durupt was also commissioned by the Cabaret Contemporain, the pianist Hugues Leclere, the Latvia Radio Choir, the Jeune Choeur de Paris, Mercury Quartet, and has had his works performed in Paris, Lyon, Strasbourg, Bogota, Vitoria, Chelsea, Manchester, Saint Petersburg, Vancouver, Dallas, San Antonio, and New York.
Laurent Durupt is currently in the Cursus 2 program at IRCAM in addition to teaching piano at the Paris Conservatory in the 14th district. In April 2013, he will be a resident at the Villa Medici in Rome.
